10.26.17 Thursday Note

Kindergarten Preview

Do you have a student entering Kindergarten next fall?

Come spend a day in Kindergarten to see what we are all about! Your child will join our Kindergarten class for circle time, music, PE, lunch and crafts. Parents will meet with the principal, take a tour of the school and get to know other TVA families.

We are having three Kindergarten preview events this year:

November 14 from 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
January 30 from 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
February 13 from 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Space is limited, so please call our school office at 503.649.5518 to reserve your spot.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Kindergarten Parents

I wanted to communicate a recent change in the calendar for January that affects only Kindergarten. There will be school on January 29 for your Kindergarten student. In previous years, there has not been school for current Kindergarten students on our Kindergarten Round Up day, which is a day for potential Kindergarten students to experience a day in school. The Round Up date was originally scheduled for January 29.

There WILL be school for our Kindergarten students on January 29. School will not be cancelled. Instead, we are offering three Kindergarten Preview days (previously called Round Up): November 14, January 30, and February 13. We are inviting up to twelve students for each date to visit our Kindergarten classrooms and experience a day in Kindergarten with our current students.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful weekend.

7th-10th Grade Choir Performance - All Are Invited!

The 7th-10th Grade Choir will be singing at Beaverton SDA Church on Saturday, November 11. There are two church ser-
vices, 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and they will be singing at both services. We are excited to start visiting our churches and

we will let you know additional dates as soon as they get scheduled, which will be occurring in the months after Christmas
If your son or daughter is in the choir, they will need to attend the performance on November 11. We are asking that they
wear black slacks or pants for the boys and black skirts for the girls with white blouses/shirts.
If your son or daughter is not in the choir, you are all invited to support and listen to our choir perform. I will be preaching
on this day as well at the Beaverton SDA Church.
Thank you and a have a wonderful Sabbath and weekend.

Library News

It’s hard to believe we are almost to Q2!

This is just a reminder that starting October 27th we’ll begin assessing overdue fines at $0.10 per day. There is a 4 day grace period before fines are charged. We do our best to remind students to return their library materials in a timely manner. If you are wondering when a book is due, check the date due slip on the material that was checked out.

Paper notifications of overdue fines are sent home at the end of the quarter. Fines are payable in cash only at the office. Please put payment in an envelope with your child’s name on it and turn it into the office.

Lost books happen. If your student has lost a book at your home and you are still looking for
it, please drop us an email so that we can renew the book and you can avoid overdue charges until the book is found. If the book is truly lost, please let us know as soon as possible. Books tend to reappear before the school year is out so we don’t charge for lost books until June.

Have a fantastic weekend and happy reading!

Boxtops - ours.jpg

Don’t forget to save Boxtops for TVA!

TVA collects pink boxtops! Boxtops are found on General Mills, Natures Valley, Yoplait, and Nestle products to name a few.

TVA runs a contest in the spring for each grade, so start working on your collections now! Ask friends and family to collect as well You can also earn e-boxtops by doing your online shopping though the btfe website: http://www.boxtops4education.com.

All you have to do go through the btfe marketplace to access many different sites such as Gap, BabiesRus, BestBuy, Groupon, Expedia, Travelocity, Petco and many more. Please check out the store!

We will be continuing our teacher incentive. Any teacher who collects over 1000 boxtops will get 20% of the money they bring in back for their classroom. If you are looking for ways to help out teachers in the classroom, but don’t have a lot of time this is one way to help!

Grades 7th through 10th will get half of what they bring in for their class accounts.

The Labels for Education program through Campbells has ended, so we are no longer collecting those.

If you have any questions about either feel free to contact Beth James at bethrjames@comcast.net.

Thank you for supporting our school!
