No School Monday, January 22nd
There is NO SCHOOL on this coming up Monday, January 22nd for teacher report card day. Please note the school office will also be CLOSED on January 22nd.
Dear TVA parents:
Our Christmas Concert is on TUESDAY, January 23rd at 6:30 pm. I have chosen an earlier time to better accommodate the younger students, and the program will be shorter, closer to an hour and 15 minutes.
The theme is Ring the Christmas Bells, as most classes are ringing bells.
With that said, please have your students back to the school and in their classrooms no later than 6:15 pm.
The children are welcome to wear anything that would be considered festive and dressier than regular school clothes. Boys can wear slacks, button down shirts, sweaters, bowties, regular ties, etc. No sweaters or ties with flashing lights and no jeans, please. Girls can wear slacks, dresses, skirts and tops, or sweaters. Also, no jeans or flashing lights.
If you have specific questions please feel free to contact me at email@example.com or call the school and leave me a message. I’ll be sure to get back to you.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to a great concert!
Do you have a student entering Kindergarten next fall?
Come spend a day in Kindergarten to see what we are all about! Your child will join our Kindergarten class for circle time, music, PE, lunch and crafts. Parents will meet with the principal, take a tour of the school and get to know other TVA families.
We have two more Kindergarten preview events this year:
January 30 from 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
February 13 from 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Space is limited, so please call our school office at 503.649.5518 to reserve your spot.
We look forward to seeing you there!
It’s hard to believe the school year is almost half over! We’ve enjoyed our time with your student this year. It is our joy to watch them grow as readers.
Overdue fines began this quarter (Q2) and notices will be sent home the week of 1/23/18. Notices for elementary students will come home in homework or weekly folders. Junior high students will receive notices via USPS. Payment is due upon receipt. Please put the amount due in an envelope with your students name on it and turn it into the office. Any fines not paid will appear on your final statement with a $3 service fee.
Lost library materials happen. If your student has misplaced an item at home and you are still looking for it, please drop us an email so that we can renew the material and you can avoid overdue charges until the material is found. If the material is truly lost, please let us know as soon as possible so we can flag the material in our system. Fines for lost materials aren’t charged until the last statement of the school year. Lost material tends to turn up by the end of the school year so keep looking. There are two options for lost materials. You may pay the replacement fee as noted or you may purchase a replacement copy of the material on your own and turn it in to the office.
As always feel free to direct questions to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop in for a chat!
Speed Stack Competition
Please mark your calendars...this year’s speed stack competition will take place on Friday, January 26th during chapel. Join us for this fun event.
Our SERVICE program was created in an effort to improve communication between our school and our parents, as well as to increase parental involvement. Your help is not only needed and appreciated but is vital to our success as a school.
Through our SERVICE program, families share their time and talents with the school by completing SERVICE hours. SERVICE hours can be earned in a variety of ways. Almost anything you do that shows your involvement with TVA can be applied to your SERVICE commitment.
Parents with a desire to help in the classroom should contact the child’s teacher to find out the needs of the teacher. We encourage classroom help from parents and do so with the understanding that the teacher is responsible for the classroom and will therefore set the parameters for classroom help.
SERVICE Program Requirements:
Each TVA family with students in grades K-10 are responsible for completing a minimum of 20 SERVICE hours a year.
Single parent families and Preschool families are responsible for 10 SERVICE hours a year.
The SERVICE year extends from July 1st through the last day of school in June.
How do I get credit for my SERVICE hours?
Parents are responsible to enter the amount of time they have spent on SERVICE activities in the SERVICE program log located on the table outside the front office. On a bi-monthly basis you will receive a SERVICE statement with your billing invoice. This statement will show what hours are required, how many have been completed and how many hours remain. All unfulfilled SERVICE hours will be billed at a rate of $10 per hour on the last statement for the current school year.
