Michael Blackburn, Project Integration and Handbells

Mr. Blackburn, or Mr. B as the students call him, has a passion for technology. This year he is teaching a class for the 9th Grade called Project Integration. It focuses on incorporating multiple forms of technology into a few large projects that have real-world impact, showing students in the process how what they are learning in their core classes impacts the real world. He starts by teaching 3D modeling. Students use SketchUp and Blender, as well as model their designs by hand to see how it all goes together. Computer programming, Photography, Videography and Music are a few other areas that he is looking to incorporate this year as well.

Mr. B also teaches Handbells to students in grades 7-9. He was an original member of Ring of Fire, TVA's world-renowned handbell choir, and has returned to teach bells at the school to give current students the chance to learn to play handbells like Ring of Fire did.

Mr. B has a Masters of Architecture with an emphasis in Urban Design from Andrews University. He has also been a freelance designer, doing videography, photography and graphic design. He renovates houses in his free time. Though not the typical background for a teacher, his experience brings a wealth of knowledge to TVA, and we are glad he is part of the TVA team!
