Service to others is a core value at Tualatin Valley Academy. We take God's command to serve each other humbly, in love, seriously. Students are encouraged to participate in community service activities. See below for some of the service projects we have done this year.
First and Second Grade Service Project - Our First and Second Graders spent time in December 2016 and December 2017 doing chores to raise money for our local children's hospital.
Food Bank Projects - Our 7th-10th graders have gone and worked in our local food bank, and the whole school has done a food drive to help make a dent in hunger here in Oregon!
Jump Rope for Heart - Students raised $3550 for the American Heart Association in 2016, and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do this year!
Prayer Partners - Grades 1+2 and 5+6 are participating in a letter exchange with the Beaverton and Hillsboro Seventh-Day Adventist Churches.
7th and 8th Grade Community Service Projects - 7th and 8th graders are required to perform 5 hours of community service per quarter as part of their Religion class. What that community service is exactly is the student's choice, but they are encouraged to volunteer at food banks, retirement homes, animal shelters, hospitals and other community events.
Binoculars for Teachers in the Amazon Rainforest - TVA is collecting binoculars to send to teachers in the Peruvian Amazon so that they have the tools they need to teach their students about the nature that surrounds them! For more information on the project, click here.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Fundraiser - In 2018 we partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help raise funds for cancer research. We believe that a major part of any strong Christian is the ability to have compassion for the world in need around us, and we work to integrate that as a fundamental part of the education we provide at TVA.
