Greetings TVA Parents & Families,

I know that everyone is waiting to hear about how the recent briefing from the governor applies to Tualatin Valley Academy. I have been working on our school's blueprint that would specify the protocols that we would have in place in order to conduct school on-site. This blueprint will still be completed so that the moment we are able to open on-site, we will be ready to do so. Currently, in order to open school on-site, the state levels of test positivity must be at or below 5% for three consecutive weeks:

  • Our county's levels of test positivity must be at or below 5% for three consecutive weeks.

  • Our county's case rate must be at or below 10 per 100,000 for three consecutive weeks

Our county's current metrics do not yet met the requirement. This means that we at TVA will be closely monitoring the numbers and sending you frequent updates. There is the possibility of being able to open K-3rd first if we meet the certain metrics. Although the public schools have announced that they are doing distance learning until November, we are not tied to that same date. Our plan is to move toward on-site learning once we are able to and it is safe enough to do so. Thank you to those you completed the survey in my previous email. I will be sending a revised survey tomorrow to receive feedback on new current conditions.

Here is a link to additional information if you would like read it.

Our number one priority is to provide a consistent, high quality program for your child that is centered on Jesus. We are committed to investing our time and creativity to ensure the quality fo instruction remains constant. I will be meeting with teachers this week to collaborate and plan. We are all about our kids and wanting the best for them. Know that we are and will be working diligently to create and provide the best program for our students.

Even at a time like this, God is with us. I have already seen His power and strength in many areas. Although our circumstances are not exactly what we wanted, I know that this is still in His hands. Isaiah 41:10 says "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." What a comforting promise! I encourage you to look upwards and stay connected to God in all of this.

Many Blessings,

Christina Orozco Acosta
